Production of woody biomass

The content of work package 2 is the development and evaluation of woody biomass production in short rotation systems. Therefore different species or different clones are tested for their usability. In short rotation systems, fast-growing species with stump sprout ability are cultivated and will be harvested in rotations of 2 to 4 years. A founded economic and ecological evaluation of these ways of utilisation as agrarian component in combination with production of valuable wood will take place.

Another aim is the measuring of mass and volume of the woody biomass as well as of the bamboo and the 3-dimensional structure of the stand by a terrestrial laser scanning system.The collected data serve as input for the growth models which will be developed.
